--WE BE THE ECHO?--

The Bm Relocation Program collective was the genesis of We be the Echo-- three of its five members went on become WBTE.

We be the Echo's new album "Return to Nations" (2011) in some ways ties back stylistically to this project; the album name and several of its tracks pay obvious homage.

--BIO--

Sometime in late 2001, Jack Francis' SF Bay Area home studio became a revolving door of sorts... on Friday nights, various musicians from a small tightly knit crew would show up to hang out, jam, drink lots of coffee-- and write/record a song from scratch in a single night, switching instruments and genres on any whim. This casual experimentation and recording carried on until fall 2002 sometime.

The results of these sessions were released in early 2003, as a limited edition full-length (the “Assholes are Back in Season.” album) along with various B-sides and outtakes. And that was that.

The reception to the album was unexpectedly and hugely positive. Creative Commons included the song “Superego Exchange” on their "Copy Me Remix Me" compilation and held a remix contest with it that drew many submissions from around the world. As a result, the initial run of "Assholes" CD's was quickly gone. Many replacement runs were done sporadically for some time, but now the CD is out of print. The album is now available as a digital re-issue.
